Sencha Panna Cotta with Fruits Salad

The first time I tasted sencha green tea, I knew I had to use it for a dessert! I just love the calming gentle floral flavor sencha has (or at-least it does :D). So I thought why not to start with a simple panna cotta, which would highlight the flavor of this green tea and easy to make. So here it is, a simple sencha panna cotta combined with fresh fruits salad to add tangy freshness. For full recipe, scroll down.

Somethings to not:

Decide the mold/glasses/cups you would like to use before starting. Using water, measure the volume of milk/cream you would need per mold. Always measure one cup extra, as the final volume might differ.

I use whole milk for this panna cotta but you can use milk of your choice or even heavy cream as in the traditional panna cotta. I would personally not use coconut milk with sencha but ofcourse it is up-to you.

I used agar agar as the setting agent here but use gelatin if you eat gelatin.

As we work with agar here, it is important to note that agar sets at room temperature. So work with you milk agar mixture as fast as you can.

Sencha Panna Cotta with Fruits Salad

Prep Time: 10mins Cook time: 10mins Total time: 20mins (+1hr 30mins to set) Serves: 3

Ingredients:

Panna Cotta:

250ml or 1 Cup Milk of Choice

1 Teaspoon Agar Powder

2 Tablespoon Sugar

½ Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

1 Teabag or 1 Teaspoon Sencha Tea Leaves per 250ml Milk

Fruits Salad:

Fruits of Your Choice

(I Used - Few Strawberries, a Nectarine and few Grapes)

½ Lemon or 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice

1 Tablespoon Sugar

Directions:

Add all the ingredient for panna cotta in a sauce pan and let it come to a boil on medium heat while constantly mixing. The mixture will slightly thicken.

Remove from the heat and strain through a fine mesh and pour them into a mould to set (refer point 4 of note section).

Set first at room temperature for 30mins and then transfer to the fridge to chill for an hour.

Prepare fruits salad fresh!

Chop the fruits evenly, squeeze half a lemon and a table spoon of sugar. Mix gently.

Serve:

Gently run a knife around panna cotta to detach and flip it on the plate. Serve with some fresh fruit salad as you like. You can also just add some fruits salad to the glass or cups with panna cotta.
